      Nathan Cofnas Retweeted Steve Sailer

Is @Steve_Sailer saying that both Jewish and white privilege exist but the former is greater? Or is he saying that neither exists but we should pretend Jewish privilege is real in order to punish Jews for promoting the idea of white privilege?https://twitter.com/Steve_Sailer/status/987511663615033344 …

      Nathan Cofnas added,

The statistical evidence for Jewish Privilege is similar in magnitude/quality to the data widely seen as proof for the existence of White Privilege. 1970s neocons objected to blacks' White Privilege rhetoric because they feared analogy would be extended to Jews. https://twitter.com/sentientist/status/987506099287801856 …

Neither, obviously. You can do this in good faith.

It's not that obvious, I thought he meant the former. Are Jews on average wealthier and have access to more resources and books and free parental time to provide to their offspring? My suspicion is yes. Also, can we please stop saying "good faith". The term has completely lost

I thought it was more likely he was saying the latter. In any case it certainly isn't "obvious."

Seems obvious to me he’s thinks current privilege concept should be discarded but is provisionally accepting it to demonstrate a double-standard that has been and should again be recognized as politically unsustainable. Btw what were your grounds for imputing a punitive motive?

Depends on what you mean by "privilege concept". The word privilege has a meaning in the English language. The meaning has been co-opted by some to mean that a privileged person cannot empathize with a person who doesn't share the privileges. Maybe he is using the English def.

Right. From what I know he’s in favor of successful people being mindful of their advantages, both inherited and heritable, and acting with noblesse oblige. But keeping the term “privilege” is pivotal jujitsu flip on the current blank slate “nightmare of history” usage.

Don't blame the word privilege for people's misuse of the word. A specific privilege either exists or it doesn't, that's the end of the word's meaning. The meaning doesn't attribute goodness or badness. Prescriptions for action based on the privilege are made up by people.
