External immigration controls inevitably require internal controls. The tighter the external controls, the more coercive the internal controls. And, inevitably, more and more sections of the population are treated with suspicion. 1/
This is a dumb tweet and you’re not a dumb person. If you are tightening enforcement after a period of laxity, internal controls will rise. But all evidence shows restricted immigration does not inhibit internal freedom of movement in the medium and long term.
