No one in America even thinks in terms of summary superiority/inferiority. Judgements tend to be particular (is A better at x, do I trust B in y circumstance, etc) and coexist with universalistic recognition of personhood...
The rhetorical use of superior/inferior takes a hyperbolic summary of the aggregate outcome (eg, segregation) and imputes caste/apartheid motives into people’s minds where they dont exist.
