I genuinely think that what is being selected for in Current Year white-collar work isn't intelligence or technical ability but the ability to constantly *Galaxy Brain Zoom Out*to such a level of abstraction that intractable failure and irreconcilable differences seem manageable.

Right. Higher-ups start talking lean and agile, mid mgmt starts having to defend their budgets with buzzwords and sell them on unnecessary initiatives to maintain their staff and budget.

I also think there's bifurcation where some industries are *truly* ruthlessly competitive&where it's impossible for anything but a stripped down machine to survive, but everything else is essentially defined by hierarchical regulatory relationships rather than competitive markets
