Does anyone genuinely believe granting asylum to 5,000 Central American migrants from a destitute situation will pose a serious threat - or to be more charitable, set a “poor precedent?” Seems to be just poc hoc rationalizations laden with lies and FUD about crime.

Right, this is the best argument against it - but is it *really* that hard to get *in* the United States in the first place if we’re being honest (from that selective mechanism of tbe southern border)

I don’t know what the metric for difficulty is but, even tho it ebtails difficulties for enforcement, i’d prefer to keep it relatively atomized and economically sensitive, rather than a photogenic collective phenomenon prone to contagion.
