the city and state are basically bankrupt and have enormous outstanding pension obligations this is true everywhere but its more immediate in chicago / IL when the shit hits the fan and they raise taxes astronomically and/or declare bankruptcy youll probably want to bail early

Right now it’s summers on Alaskan oil platforms, winters carpetbagging Gulf Coast hurricane reconstruction, but a nominally permanent residence would be nice.
