The world doesn't have unlimited reservoirs of immigrants indefinitely willing to come here. Mexican immigration has plummeted, Chinese will eventually peter out as well. If we don't take the immigrants now, that's also a forever-lost opportunity (for what it's worth).

It isn't unlimited, but survey data shows some African countries having 50%+ people with a desire to migrate. Paul Collier's book covers some cases where a growing diaspora community caused further migration until the origin country was significantly depopulated

Right, but not nearly that many people are going to emigrate, and that's an issue for Europe (due to its proximity to Africa) rather than us.
