it's almost like rage isn't rational and a lifetime of marginalization makes people a little crazy sometimes. consider picking a different time in history to critique female anger, this is remarkably tone deaf.

Weird reply imo. Seems like you agree with me that it's an irrational, crazy article, at least!

this is only a "weird" reply because you don't understand what it's like to be marginalized day in and day out. it often doesn't leave you neatly-boxed complaints, it makes you feel like a trapped animal.

Ok. Women are crazy, irrational trapped animals. Got it. Anything else I should know before lowering my standards of coherence and basic humanity for these delicate flowers?

do you always get super defensive in response to someone pointing out a cognitive blind spot of yours?

I'm not being super defensive. You're the one who is defending an incredibly cruel essay that the Washington Post decided to publish despite it being, in your own words, crazy and irrational. And you're defending it by suggesting our expressive standards should be lower for women

I didn't defend it, I explained it. read again, you're projecting. I said you sound tone deaf in critiquing existential female anger, being that you seem to not understand it at all. I'm asking you to step up by exercising compassion, not lower your standards.

"Tone-deaf" isn't a real critique. You obviously think I'm right about the article, but for some reason you still think it deserves to have been published. I think you're the one who has a cognitive blind spot here.

Anyway, this conversation isn't going to go anywhere. All I will say is that I cannot imagine ever publishing anything like this about someone unless I was intent on causing them real, personal harm.

we all appreciate your detached, rational critique of the intense, lasting psychological damage caused by marginalization.

Me too. Let’s get even more rational and try to quantify how much mind-warping marginalization being a successful professor of history at an elite liberal arts college entails.
