I mean, hookup culture wasn't a thing in the 40s, and generally, waiting until marriage was also a thing. Assuming like 6mo between getting home and marriage on average, that'd place every baby firmly in 46-47 for the start of the baby boom.

There was a boom, a relative dip, and then the full on postwar boom, but iirc it was clearly a departure from the preceding era birthrate. Needs double-checking tho

It was a different era. Litters were larger in those days.

I don’t know about sheer births, am just pointing out that there was a change in fertility trend.
