He was a pioneer in US ethnomusicology for his work on African American spirituals, is deeply respected in philosophy for his work on the philosophy of race, aesthetics, and phenomenology, and if I have my way soon will be for philosophy of science! He had a super cool moustache.

For all I hate on him... which I do quite a lot (
#NoHeroes)... I think WEB Du Bois is a decent contender for the most accomplished social theorist humanity has yet produced, in the same kinda league as Adam Smith or Ibn Khaldun.3 replies 0 retweets 9 likesShow this thread -

I understand that people really want DuBois to be great, and he’s pretty good, but wanting isn’t enough.

The Scholar Denied is an argument for Du Bois Is Great And Deeply Under-appreciated. But, like, I don't know you, and so can't tell if this is just another I Am An Eternally Angry White Guy On The Internet Who Is Always Deeply Unhappy When People Praise Women Or Coloureds thing.
