Robustness against future crises comes from a diversity of capacities, most of which aren't needed in the current environment. So we should worry about losing cultural capacities, even if those losses don't seem to cost us at the moment.

I’ve thought about an industrial reserve army that ties eg UBI to maintanence of obsolete (but useful in event of systems collapse) technical skills, so as to have redundancy (and also benefit the individuals for their hobbies, craft service jobs, intentional LARPer communes, etc

This would also restore some of the lost purpose and prestige of old people, give a minimum of structure to the young.
