Senator Paul Gavan’s posts

You committed to the Occupied Territories Bill on page 146 of the Fianna Fáil 2020 manifesto, . Abandoning our friends in their hour of need is the worst sort of betrayal.

It’s gas. A few weeks ago FF & FG told us a rent freeze would be unconstitutional. By Friday it will be law. Now that we have that legal point sorted the only question is how long: The caretaker govt say 3 months. say 3 years.

This is utter nonsense- at no point did I “defend”Lukashenko. I simply pointed out FF hypocrisy in ignoring #Catalan political prisoners languishing in Spanish jails whilst preaching about Europe’s “democratic values”

Not two weeks ago, the Government passed a law to end the eviction ban. Sinn Féin and others opposed it. This is the result. Families getting turned out on to the roadside in the middle of a pandemic. This is what FFFGG rule looks like.

Update - with the support of Gary Daly, a very kind and comradely solicitor, the tenants are back in the property. However look at the state the private security goons left it in - deliberately smashed up to make it uninhabitable. Remember the Garda watched them do this

Mass unemployment, mass emigration, poverty housing& drug crises marked the 1980’s in Ireland, all thanks to so called “pro enterprise” policies. I remember my whole college class emigrating in 1987. And Billy thinks these were the good old days?? 🤡

What happened in 1980s Ireland due to our pro enterprise tax policies? 🍏Apple sets up in 1980 💊Eli Lilly opens manufacturing plant in 1981 🖥️Microsoft establishes in 1985 What were Sinn Féin doing in the 1980s? 🔫💣🪦 ...... Enough said! #AppleTax

Depriving northern citizens who work and pay tax in the South of the #COVID19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment is "the worst sort of partitionism". The government needs to give these workers the financial security they have paid for and are morally entitled to.

There’s a very simple way to settle this difference of opinion: Azerbaijan should allow the fact- finding mission to Nagorno-Karabakh requested by to take place without further delay. Unless of course you don’t want people to see what is happening there?

I spoke today on the plight of contract cleaners, who put their lives on the line to keep our hospitals and care homes clean throughout this pandemic, and who are now being denied a modest pay rise of 40c an hour from €10.80 to €11.20. Pay justice for our frontline heroes now.

State forces are killing their own citizens in #Colombia . I am calling on to condemn what is happening to innocent people at the hands of the Colombian State. The Right to Protest must be upheld! #SOSColombiaDDHH #SOSCali #ColombiaResiste

Don’t be fooled by the “drama” between Micheál & Leo. This is all carefully choreographed to make #GE20 appear to be a two way contest between FG & FF & disguise the fact that their policies are identical in every way. We’ve had enough of Conservative Politics!

Whenever we discuss #WarCrimes we must always demand that Julian Assange be freed. I was happy to do so today at #FreeJulianAssange

The world needs to be vaccinated or we risk more new variants. So why are Fine Gael refusing to support the call for Intellectual Property Rights on Covid Vaccines to be waived? There should be no profit from a pandemic. With this pandemic nobody is safe until everybody is safe.

I signed my waiver for Oireachtas Salary increases today for 2021, totalling €3892. Our Front-Line workers deserve a pay rise, TD’s and Senators are already paid very well.
