This is a pretty good post. http://bit.ly/2GWLPGG The predictive processing model is solid, and explains a lot. I’d been thinking on the same lines from a different side (linguistics mostly)

Many people think
@slatestarcodex knows too much to still be on the left. But that’s a misreading of what “the left” is. It’ s not about ideas. As Moldbug put it, the Left is a social club. It’s about people.1 reply 3 retweets 15 likesShow this thread -
And the thing about Scott is that he was raised in the left. And he choose to join the Left club since, I don’t know, junior high, because he was fucked up. He was a nerd, homely, awkward and just not cool. Very smart, but so what.

But he was so smart he noticed that the status-maximization path for uncool people is
#Bioleninism. He just had to relish in the fucked-up side of his phenotype, seek others like him, and advertise it to the wider world.1 reply 0 retweets 14 likesShow this thread -
Yes, I’m white, I’m a man, and I’m very smart. But I have self-diagnosed mental issues and I have a very weird sexuality which for some reason I relish in talking about. What reason? Signaling loyalty to the bioleninist power structure, of course.

Note that people like
@patrissimo who decided to improve their lives and stop signaling sexual deviancy have gone *very* out the record. If you want to signal you belong to the left, and you happen to be a white man, you must have mental issues, real or fake.2 replies 1 retweet 15 likesShow this thread
By "out the record" do you mean out of the public eye / news? To me it's less about media bias than that living a virtuous life involves a lot more quiet family time and a lot less trolling for attention. Love and satisfaction turn out to counteract narcissism. Who knew?
