Also, if we want to stomp out anonymous speech so much, why doesn't that apply to powerful people in Washington and in finance, who constantly disseminate information to the public while hiding behind media-granted anonymity? Why is it only menacing when powerless people do this?

The idea that there is a consistent "We" behind all policy proposals is an illusion. "We" the directly powerful politicians and billionaires (him), "We" the new media voices (you), and "We the people" naturally have highly divergent interests.
