No one here thinks odd opinions should be crimes. I worry about the trend of conflating social censure for bigoted speech ("PC") with the outright criminalization of expression, which has led some to think that rejecting evolving norms of decency is brave rather than vile.

I oppose hate speech laws, which I think are a misguided way to officially acknowledge something that is true: that people are oppressed in groups, and that rights lack worth if members of groups can be systemically denied dignity.

"X chooses what pronouns to use for others" => "X is systematically denying dignity to a group to oppress them". Quite a leap, from an individual choice to an act of group oppression. Make such leaps if you want, but don't expect any libertarians to follow you.
