I’m a fan of your dad’s work. Thinking about this some more: why do we want crypto stability against fiat in the first place? We like a rise in crypto/fiat. And to guard against drops, can use traditional hedging (like

Most people don't want to speculate on high-risk investments, they just want to use money. Having a currency also be a high-risk investment may seem great when it's rising, but tying them together makes it a less useful product.
