I disagree: polycentric law and local autonomy are technologies for tolerance. As such, they help even (or perhaps especially) with groups that are scary & different. Letting people self-govern is strength, not cowardice.
Sharia is not compatible with polycentric law which assumes people can leave. Sharia demands or accepts killing of people who leave. I worry a development like this would be a victory for Islamists everywhere, giving further encouragement towards their goal of Europewide Sharia.
I would encourage the legal system in which they are embedded to forcibly allow exit.
