But if someone makes an accusation and you don't deny it, will others take that as assent to the accusation? Thats pretty common in human history, hard to believe twitter has made the effect disappear.
Disappear, no. But in a medium that greatly lowers the cost of broadcasting an accusation (obviously) and seems to encourage/reward false accusations (for complex reasons), people have adjusted to discount accusations, and realized they should defend far less.
