For some reason, I found the book's grimness very comforting. Dark Forest Theory matches how I see the world, and I find more comfort in knowing that other humans share the view, than in escapist fiction that pretends the universe is nice.

The Dark Forest perspective makes a lot of sense and is just game theory separated by a veil of ignorance/opaqueness [not only we dont know the intentions, we also dont know the capability].
