That's a very comforting explanation for the cognitively adept. The history of inequality going back to to the hydraulic era of pharoahs is full of aggressive mechanisms for increasing inequality.

Complexity isn’t valued for complexity’s sake. Complexity is a byproduct of advancement. Practicing medicine in 1750 was pretty simple — but also pretty ineffective. With technical advancement comes complexity.

it actually DECREASES complexity in the everyday financial sense (amazon prime vs. ordering something from sears mail-away catalog) the INCREASE in complexity is passed to purchaser as markets become externally opaque (e.g. i understand farmer's job, more than the consultant's)
