I mean, I love the sages, and they are a great source of ideas. But they lived in a very different time, so we can't just apply their systems of living to today.

How rapid is today’s change? More rapid than in say the 1920s?

The absolute number of inventions continues to increase, and tech change causes social/cultural change. Internet + smartphones seems to me to have more profound social impact than anything in the 20s. Great Depression was a big change, but temporary (like large wars).

Cars, planes, ubiquitous electricity, telephony and light? Not sure about chronology but I think these changes are taken for granted today. Do you think the internet is more important than all of these things?
