As long as cities are part of the secession, and you have free trade with a large entity (maybe the one you left), it's fine. But yeah, you don't want to secede w/o a city. Cities totally drive value creation today.

Think there's any chance for people to just disappear from the system? I found this 6200 acre ranch in rural TN with internet connectivity and an airfield. I could imagine people living there, being self-sufficient w/food&water, using crypto to avoid IRS.https://www.wilksranchbrokers.com/property/hardin-county-ranch/ …
-
Mostly not. Self-sufficiency has deep romantic appeal, but in modern economy it means brutal poverty. If you trade with the world, they will find you and tax you. Even w/ crypto. Also, successful people (and investors) don't want a home that depends on hiding to survive. I don't.

What we're already seeing it with
#AbolishICE, drug legalization and sanctuary cities. Next time around it will be#AbolishATF, sanctuary states for gun owners, and ignoring federal healthcare and energy regulations. -
Marijuana legalization was the first time, in my life, that the states stood up to the federal govt on something important. It felt like a big deal, and I agree sanctuary cities are on same trendline, with much more to come.

Ideas like this will become more commonhttps://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/apr/8/south-carolina-secession-bill-introduced-over-gun-/ …
-
Absolutely, that's what I'm saying. As distance between state cultures / demanded laws grow, then we must either have Federalism, secession, or brutal repression. No other option. People will fight back against being first to run another tribes OS.

1. Deport non-whites. End birthright citizenship. Build wall. Incentivise Anglo-Saxon fertility. 2. Lockup far left. 3. Criminalise commercial production of alcohol. Singapore-tier punishments for drug use. 4. End the fed. 5. Fund rebellions in China.

-
I'm not sure I can come up with even one US state that would majority-back that set of policies. Maybe if you remove the alcohol prohibition...

We don’t cope or survive. Or, de facto federalism happens anyways, just under the table and off the books.
-
A friend from Guatemala told me that all over the country they have these things called "vecinos orginazados" which basically means the area is self-policed by a local organiztion. This sign reads: "If we grab you, you will not go to the police station"pic.twitter.com/h1sn9cDNpO

Accidental secession, never called that. Areas that are isolated will flourish. Though I don’t know if distance will be geographically, cultural, or other.

It won’t survive in it’s current form. The final blow will be spread of Spanish as the first language for many Americans.
