There should be a special economic zone on the Mexican/American border. American governance/capital + Mexican labor.
Totally agreed. I've been in a couple discussions about this, but haven't had a strong local (Mexican) advocate yet. (I think it would be much more likely to be approved on the Mexican side).

It’s an interesting political question where the will might come from in the US. The anti immigration right should like it, but it also could be perceived as “job stealing”. The left should like it for lifting people out of poverty but they could perceive as exploitative.

Maquiladoras(sp?) already exist and they're used extensively in the auto industry.

'Maquiladoras' could be Caldera's, Calderas, Malodorous, Mutilator's, Mutilators or Ambulatory's.
