People thought "The Incredibles" was exaggerated fiction. Yet @elonmusk is the real-world equivalent of a superhero, and this week he's being attacked for trying to help save children, by weak arguments that are obv. a thin wrapper over envious hate for the great. https://twitter.com/AndySwan/status/1016727913977319424 …

I also want to see mimetic desire harnessed to make more people strive for greatness (because they want to imitate those celebrated for success), rather than "inspiring" people to join in hyena mobs to take down the great in return for social status.

Finally, I want to live in a society spiritually advanced enough that envy is rare. The envious like to think they act for justice; yet envy is a clear marker of low consciousness & self-worth, a state which rarely produces just action. Saints don't envy - let's be more sainted.

I totally agree with you, but believe me, in this case your admiration is grossly misplaced. Subsidy Fraud Boy does not deserve it.
-
We shouldn't admire those who wish to help and do good? We should instead sling insults and names? Because that gets us where?
-
We should admire entrepreneurs who create genuine value for society, not ones who consume huge subsidies, lie through their teeth, and generate nothing but losses (which is the economic way of saying that resources are wasted). Musk is a conman. Not an entrepreneur.

Q: What is the difference between Elon Musk and Elizabeth Holmes? A: About 24 months, if the Dept of Justice is quick about it.
-
Seriously? Theranos' products did not work! Whereas hundreds of thousands of Tesla's are on the road and saving lives with safety features. It's fair to diss Elon for govt subsidies, but comparison to Theranos makes you sound like crank. Shame, libertarian!
-
Ps. “Saving lives with safety features” is a perfect example of a Tesla lie. They compare safety stats to the AVG car in America. Compared to new, luxury cars, the safety sucks. Tesla has been rebuked by the NTSB for these misleading claims.

I definitely agree with you there. We must acknowledge though that he gets massive subsidies, thus using the state to force people to pay for his projects. I understand that it's a difficult one given how he's helped us all look a little further, but it's come at a price
