Is America past its zenith?

Unquestionably. Zenith was approx 1945-1955. There are lots of books tracing patterns in long-term evolution of civilizations. They have cycles, and we are past our peak. A post peak country can last for centuries, but I expect the US will change radically within 50 years.

My favorite is "The Evolution of Civilizations" by Carrol Quigley, which I learned about from

Quigley goes rather deep on the West and it exhibiting the signs of decline and oligarchical control in Tragedy and Hope.
