    The last US soldier who left Afghanistan in night's darkness on Monday was Mjor Gen. Chris Donahue while Gen. Gormove became the last ex-Soviet soldier who quit the country holding a bouquet of flower in the middle of day.

    NEW -- the more info comes out, the more Qs are arising about today's U.S. strike in -- 8 civilians reportedly killed, including an ANDSF officer & a former U.S. interpreter. No major explosion, despite U.S. claim of multiple suicide vests hit in single vehicle.

    German foreign minister today doing the practical diplomacy missing in recent months - touring Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Qatar to see if neighbouring countries will take refugees. Better still if his tour is extended to Iran.

    Damning evidence FCDO focus on Brexit, and Indo-Pacific (China) meant plans not laid for consequence of US withdrawal from Kabul. In Raab defence, task deputed to Lord Ahmad; someone in centre gunning for him, and if PM was concerned about no calls to Pakistan, did he intervene?

    This quote is from a British Govt minister: with the last troops now out surely Raab has to resign - if only to restore functionality at FCDO - thousands of Afghans need a route to U.K. via Pakistan *now*

    US call with hindsight to leave Bagram air base disastrous. Out of the city and more easily protected. General Milley said June “Bagram is not necessary tactically operationally for what we’re gonna try to do here with Afghanistan – consolidate on Kabul, in support of their govt”

    The ’s defense minister says the threat at airport is going to grow the closer foreign forces get to leaving.

    Of course the are blaming the US for lack of security in the area where the bombing took place, notwithstanding their responsibility for security of all of the approaches through Kabul to that particular point
