The people I know who get a lot out of Twitter approach it with a “yes, and” mood; those who find it frustrating seem to see it more as a “no, but” medium.

Absolutely! As audiences continue to harden on twitter, we risk having performative disagreements rather than substantive ones:https://www.npr.org/sections/13.7/2016/04/11/473769249/is-the-minds-approach-more-like-a-scientist-or-a-trial-lawyer …

Interesting. So how do you think we solve this? I respectfully disagree that avoiding disagreements altogether is the best long term approach (sorry for meta...)

practice thinking "I like this person!" before replying. sort of like steel-manning an argument

I also don’t think that “yes and” means you can’t disagree. It’s a different approach. “I hear what you’re saying, and here’s my perspective.”

Sure, doesn’t mean it’s not worth a shot though. A platform like twitter without disagreement is infinitely less valuable. Be nice about it and don’t feed the trolls.

Okay to disagree on Twitter, state one’s case, and move on. However, best not continue discussion long after all the salient points are made, only in an attempt to try to get the last word.

Too much bashing when it comes to disagreements on Twitter, name calling, cursing etc since people are invincible and feel they can say whatever they like

Agreed that part needs to go. Hope it doesn’t mean we write off disagreeing for good though...

Loading seems to be taking a while.

People shouldn’t be dicks about it (easier said than done) but disagreements are how the good stuff evolves.
Perhaps I misunderstood something (big Stripe fan / longtime customer)
