I've been following Tillman's story for a while and I admire his patience and persistence. The article doesn't mention it but he has also offered to sell the plot of land to the city for market value and they have refused. It seems particularly wilful given that.

I think there’s probably some willful ignorance wrt the fragility of the situation that’s been created here. If the SV mythos breaks down at all & VC money starts to move, things will get really interesting
