If lack of access is the concern focus should be on those great but underestimated founders excluded due to bias - not on "dumb" startups.

Agreed! Academic lit on invention/innovation focuses on digging dry wells as the analogy. Loss is *required* to make forward progress.

Think that rubric was more true years ago. Today, mocking often expresses frustration about startup culture undermining labor & communities.

I draw a sharp line between "risky" and "stupid". Good ideas can be risky; stupid startups would be stupid even if they succeeded.

The problem is that the overabundance of VC cash makes it take much longer to fail, and causes damage in the process.
