However: I went and asked a bunch of Irish tech entrepreneurs whether tax was a factor when starting out. Universally: "no".

Point in piece was that tax is secondary relative to many other considerations for entrepreneurs.

And, especially, that Ireland should be looking to other levers in order to encourage more tech startups.

tax played no role in my decision not to start MetaCert in Ireland. Not even secondary.

Nor should it have. That would have been a dumb basis (on it's own) to decide where to build you startup...

they rarely take into consideration the tax an employer pays for every new job. Tax on jobs is an obstacle to growth.
