Enjoyed this essay - the format and thoroughness of language, as well as the ideas. The examples of Snapchat and the WWW (and perhaps the math proofs) seem to suggest the unwitting moulding of personal values and goals - maybe more than the shaping of mere understanding(?)

Sometimes it’s hard to disentangle those things! For instance, Principia Mathematica both defines a medium made of logic... and also aspires to shape its users’ epistemological relationships to truth statements in math. Hard to escape.

Yes. Good learning tool. I like the move toward interactivity learning some developers are doing with digital content. cc @michael_nielsen

Great trial in this new direction. A must read. Next q: how to enable deep processing? Spaced repetition flashcards make pieces more accessible to working mem, but the real work comes in (re-)chunking/processing, mental model building/iteration. Houses out of bricks.

Thanks for sharing this post Patrick, I found it fascinating. At some point I think the burden on learning should fall on the student as much as the teacher. I recently taught myself to code, while deciding on a process I thought about the content type and styles that I find...
