Zara in retail - consistently churns out fashion from design to store in ~3 weeks - super fast in an industry where some still work on 12-18 month lead times and plan by seasons. Some of the newer online only players such as boohoo can operate at 1 week (design to online)

Zara, or Intidex is one of my absolute favorite cases here. They do a number of insanely cool things compared to other businesses in the space. They run a 2-3 week cycle vs 6 month industry average as you mentioned above.

Canonical examples of this are Southwest Airlines, Intel, Corning Glass. If you want to dig into the details of long-term sustainability of a speed advantage, this study is interesting.https://hbr.org/2011/11/how-great-companies-think-differently …

I'm curious about this, too. (CC Myers, the founder, filed for bankruptcy, due to an unlucky investment decision in the housing crash in 2008 and lost control of the company. CC Myers Inc restarted as an employee-owned venture and went bankrupt in 2016.)

(Myers founded a new construction company of similar operations called Myers and Sons in 2010)
