It’s amazing to me how little any technical artifacts “know” about the social context which shipped them; we can tag a subsystem with the owning team, for example, but that’s the coarsest answer of book of questions you’d have. e.g. “Is this code the Right Way to do this today?”

Spot on Patrick! We are trying to do same, is tough but amazingly fruitful results over period of time. It's right kind of investment every company should do.

Not to mention that a lot of the tools out there are inscrutable or complicated, and lots of the hoe-to guides are outdated and unmaintained. It makes getting spun up on technologies daunting and time-consuming.

Truth, after I read "Peak: Secrets of the New Science of Expertise" I realized we are in a primitive era. We don't sit and practice for loops like a tennis pro practices back hands. We don't have someone coaching us on everything to be the very best. We are very slow actually.
