If the limitation is "efforts are concentrated geographically", pervasive internet school should be helping, too?

Lots to dissect here. You literally have to hack each step in the funnel to ensure that students from socially disadvantaged backgrounds and low income communities know about opportunities and can be equitable walked through with empathy and affordability.

Can confirm anecdotally. I was in the US for only ~3 years and my guidance counselor told me to apply to a community college and not even bother with prestigious universities. I shot a little higher, but this advice significantly set me back.

I moved to a new town in 9th grade with terrible grades from a poor town. When they asked me what my plan was I said "try to go to MIT". No counselor took me seriously but the principle heard and said, once, "let's try to make it happen". It definitely made an impact

Perceptions are so important in this space (IMO), I think it's a big advantage to free university, rather than a system of grants and scholarships. In Ireland, people perceive college to be free and therefore socially inclusive, in the US it is perceived as expensive.

Yes, tutors and high school counselors already know this, how to aim their students to a private R1. It's nice to see more students gain the advantage of top advice!
