What are the best charts/timeseries showing trends in cancer treatment efficacy? (Controlling, inasmuch as possible, for changes in incidence, earlier detection, etc.)
Didn't immediately see where they seek to control for that -- have any links?

Mortality is probably the cleanest indicator of progress - less sensitive to earlier detection of "incidentalomas" that wouldn't have killed even if undetected.
