Every few minutes this presentation delivered a new mind-blowing finding. Regrowing limbs, manufacturing organisms, intelligence in non-brain biology, non-genetic encoding of morphological plans, worms as memory devices... Just amazing. But why Comic Sans?
-
It was Chalkboard, not Comic Sans :-)
-
Ah! Makes perfect sense. A font to capture a lecture-hall-blackboard, academic aesthetic. Your work and your presentation are remarkable. The experience of watching reminded me of having my mind blown watching Royal Inst Christmas Lectures as a child. Bravo.

Patrick, indeed! This is extraordinary frontier research that may lead us to a cognition that humans are a cooperation and federation of not only human cells coordinating but also non-human cells. Consider the heart brain-like neurons and transplant recipient memory transfers.
-
Patrick, additionally we will find that human psychometrics will inform AI far more than the crude ML approach we use today of rote machine study of raw data. Example, it took one cat interactions as a child for you to know a cat. It did not require 10,000 candidate cat images.
-
Mmmm.. as long as they aren’t based on some kind of Corporatised Jungian matrix... :)
-
Paul, I hear ya sir! When humans are left to the darkness of their dreams, they all gather at the same place. When AI fully “understands” this it will cease being anything we thought it would become.

Paul, yes one way to see it. Evolution sacrificed a significant portion of the brain used for short term things-what took over is the stuff we seek in AI. Yet with this gift comes also a haunted world that is a natural and necessary byproduct of intelligence and creativity.

This is actually so cool, I just started to look to neuron precursors and glial cells for ML architecture insights in my
@pioneerdotapp project, but this talk just blew my mind. I'm going to be in the books for weeks trying to apply some of these insightsThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
