What are the best examples of group (especially large group) projects conducted extraordinarily quickly? P-80 Shooting Star, Celera & HGP, initial development of radar, maybe "Please Please Me" and "Led Zeppelin" albums...pic.twitter.com/lUlvATp5zA

The Golden Gate Bridge was built in 4.2 years. Starting in 2009, the replacement of 1.5 miles of road just south of it took 8 years.

Everything C.C. Meyers, Inc did -- they were the "low bid, massive payments for early completion" contractor in California, for stuff like "we need this bridge final assembly done, and only close the bridge for 3 days, must be done on time".

What I find amazing about him and his firm was that government contracting, especially road construction, is usually massively expensive/slow/delayed. This was like startup vs. incumbent but in a highly-regulated industry. (also https://www.comstocksmag.com/longreads/cover-worlds-fastest-man …)

IIRC, "The Usual Suspects," Bryan Singer's classic 2nd feature film, had a principal photography schedule of 15 weeks. I'd also add... The Lord of the Rings, all 3 films shot simultaneously, sometimes w/as many as 9 units shooting. Principal photography for all 3: 15 months.

Hoover Dam, ~5 years, 2 years ahead of schedule, in a hot, remote location with no infrastructure, and never done before. 2016 dollars cost $630 million, $300-400 million less than the new Vikings Stadium, and still in use 82 years later… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoover_Dam
