Aren't many of those downloads automatic and not active listenings? Havent paid attention to podcasts in like 10years but back then it used to be normal to have a lot of "crawlers" frtching your podcasts

It is hugely underrated how listening to a podcast with AirPods or headphones locates that voice in center of your head like a voice of God. Deeply intimate and possibly subconscious delivery mode. More important messages should be sent this way.

Also it's one of the only times people actually pay attention to advertisements. This should make one very bullish on the future of podcasts.

Strong points and I’ll add (pure speculation, but I think a strong one) that it’s not just that we listen to podcasts more intentionally than TV. It’s that more intentional people listen to podcasts. Granting some overlap of course.

They're also underrepresented internationally. Most are in English for US/UK. A lot of room for growth.
