IRs happened bc of co-occurrence of number of factors. Ferguson (textile, wars, spices, metals), Gleick (loom, math, printing), Burke (loom, heating, lighting), et al try to reconstruct. In short, crop rotation, textile crucial, both happened not during less war but less plague.
