A genre that I wished existed: short autobiographies that cover ages 10-20. So much formation happens there and yet conventional biographies can rarely provide much insight.

I totally agree. While a fiction book, and not limited to youth, A Sense of An Ending by Julian Barnes came to mind as a somewhat adjacent, memoiresque, worthwhile novella.

I agree that many leaders & innovators are transformed by an often traumatic experience - injury, loss of parent or incident that forges resilience. The simple lesson of how attitudes to service or function of products and consideration of the needs of people is sufficient.
