And yet nobody wants to hire remote (in US or otherwise.) E.g. Plenty of talent between SF and Reno, many very experienced former Bay Area transplants living in the Sierra Foothills only 2-3 hours away.

Through friends I personally know of 3 mid-size tech companies that have hubs in SF and Raleigh that are growing in Raleigh and drastically shrinking in SF. One is looking to drop SF locale altogether.

Yes. I have no problem getting tech applicants here in Los Angeles. Now if all you want to hire are the top 3%, then that will be a problem. But I have yet to see an absolute shortage of IT workers.

Where? Everything I see is still "must be willing to relocate to San Francisco". Big companies with foreign offices still constantly "defrag" projects to their Bay Area headquarters, insisting people move to keep working on them.
