Unanticipated additional benefit: Pavlovian conditioning of reptile brain. “I’m on an airplane, not in bed. *But*, hmm, I *am* wearing a sleep mask...”

So, all in all, recommended.

Pair it with ear plugs and WOW! (Gave into the mask last year and it’s a game changer.)
-
Ordered hopefully helps with insomnia. What ear plugs are you using? I’ve tried Mack’s in ear ones but they’re super uncomfortable.

Patrick, Indeed there is a benefit but there is the possibility for long term impact to your hormonal system. The sight of light + the actual effect of light touching the skin will inhibit melatonin release. A super dark room is healthier. A good book: https://amzn.to/2lyv0Zn

Patrick, in one empirical study in which a test subject sleeping in a completely dark room had a very small light the size of a pencil point aimed at their skin saw a significant reduction in melatonin levels. Thus the long term impact of a mask in a <dark room is quite profound.

@noahmp I recently started using one as well, and am a convert. Combined with earl plugs, I sleep uninterrupted the whole night. And according to my sleep tracker, much more of that is deep sleep. -
I cannot express how disturbed I am by “Earl plugs”.

Time to try ear plugs and nose strips! Keeping out light and sound while letting in more oxygen has led to the best nights of sleep.

Yes! Have been convincing all my friends of this. Quality of sleep gains at least an hour. Though also cannot unsee now that one of them called it an eyebra.

At home? Why not just lightproof your windows and get a room that’s always pitch black?
