    Patrick McKenzie Retweeted IAN LANDSMAN

You sort of wonder if there’s anyone in charge of postmorteming a regulatory rollout, with a dashboard showing adoption, complaints, notable holdouts, etc. (One can hold out hope, right.)https://twitter.com/ianlandsman/status/998884770493943808 …

    IAN LANDSMAN @ianlandsman
The reason you're getting 5000 GDPR emails this week isn't because it's the start date. It's because everyone just found out about it and is scrambling. A proper rollout with outreach to companies you're attempting to regulate from afar would have been smart

@ianlandsman it’s not the responsibility of government to keep you informed of all regulations you have to follow. Also: GDPR was adopted over two years ago.

Collected fines should be a good indicator

Fines will only be issued after formal warnings to comply have been issued and ignored. So I think there will be quite some time until we hear of actual collected fines.

Every regulation and law should have a measurable Outcomes Expectation. 1. Keeps them honest (unlike the Name of many laws like the Clean Skies act). Reduces government by Click Bait and "vote now, read it later" 2. If they fail to deliver, they get tweaked or canceled.
