It seems there are two forces at play here, the pulling force of demand from the market, and the pushing force of the solution/distribution from a company. A deficit in one can be compensated by a surplus in the other, but truly meteoric growth requires both.

It turns out that in early product development, that push and pull work in a reciprocating/spiral fashion. Subtle choices/shifts at any point can send you in very different directions long-term
