It’s easy to underappreciate how much value is created by boring CRUD apps. Every phone call to a CSR costs $7*; we probably avoided 25 after the recent move by doing data entry ourselves. Also saved hours on the phone. * Long ago stat from my days at a call center.

(The stat assumes US-based CSRs who have an average resolution time on low-complexity cases and middle America wages ($10/hr starting) and overhead. A call center has an *impressive* amount of overhead; it’s like a factory for phone calls.)
