got an email from an (academic) publisher saying "if you're interested in making money, a book may not be for you". this feels weird to me -- obviously money isn't the *only* thing but I feel like there should be a way to make writing into a viable business!!

hm i'm sort of aware of this but usually I find the marketing copy on the pages for these kinds of books feels really scammy/offputting
-
probably there's a way to do this that would feel really genuine/honest and I just haven't thought about it enough yet!

I am not exaggerating when I say "I literally know high schoolers who were capable of executing on this, to the tune of more-money-than-I-made-in-first-N-years-of-my-career."

How many books for you have to sell? Do you have a sense for profit per unit?

Do you have a possible recommendation for a book (or course, though ideally book) that describes this playbook in greater detail? Or if not, trusted places to source such a rec?
