The best response I’ve found to “But can’t we just build your tech in house?” is no answer. Hash that out, make that call, and when you decide partnering with us and supporting our product is valuable come back. It’s important not to grovel for basic respect.

Wow. I've learned one or two busi lessons today thanks to you both. I know burning isn't what you were aiming for, but again, if talking among friends I'd say "daaamm, what a punchline!!". Aikido-like negotiation. In case of attack, use their own weight to avoid the hit.

Another martial arts principle: attachment causes pain. In ANY negotiation, the person most willing to walk away has the power. Once you know an arrangement won't work, walk. Don't let yourself be attached to "what could be."
