The best response I’ve found to “But can’t we just build your tech in house?” is no answer. Hash that out, make that call, and when you decide partnering with us and supporting our product is valuable come back. It’s important not to grovel for basic respect.

I’d probably deliver it less as a burn and more “We’re both businessmen here and we understand how projects are delivered in the real world. Are we truly planning on this? The proposal on the table will, clearly, not ship this. How can we work together to get it done then?”
