From the other side of the table: if you underquote a company, not only will the company generally not tell you “Oh you have a confidence issue. That’s OK. Please charge more.”, they will *often not notice you underquoted them.*

Price is a signal of value and if you underprice yourself you are saying “I think I’m valued accurately at this price, below that of better providers.” Most companies will take you at your word. They will then treat you in non-price ways consistent with your representations.
