(I think there is a huge gap in expectations between folks who are *voraciously* self-directed learners and between the rest of the world, and guess who writes books.)

I am notoriously cheap about buying tech books (sooo expensive), but even I have a couple on the shelf that I must-get-to-some-day.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

If you buy books that you want to read right now and have it delivered via Amazon u will read em. The not reading problem occurs with “books I feel like I should have read” - never buy this category.

totally agree, buying needs to be an act of passion or it’ll never work

I don't think I've ever bought a book and not opened it. The attraction of an unopened book is too much for me to handle. Unfinished books though... Good to hear re intenet products. I have always felt uncomfortable about people buying my product but not taking advantage of it.

Same with SaaS products. Sometimes people buy because they aspiritationally want it to solve a problem and get sold on it, but then never put the work/process in to succeed. Then churn.

Done that many times. I'm happy to admit it; I feel no shame about that kind of purchasing behavior. It's about where I want to go.

A lot of people prefer touting an ideal over taking action. The first person to recommend headspace to me raved about it for months; when I finally tried it, I thanked them and told them how much I loved and used it. That’s when they admitted to never actually meditating with it.
